What to Tell Them
Tell them what kind of job(s) you’re looking for. Don’t be afraid to be specific. For example “I want to work as a nursing assistant in a home for the elderly.”
If you have the time, tell them what you like about that kind of work and why you think you would be good at it. For example “I really like helping people one-on-one and I’ve always had a way with older people. They seem to like me and I like them.”
Keep a list of who you tell about your job search. Check back with them from time to time and ask if they’ve seen anything. This will let them know you’re serious. It will also give you a chance to remind them of the kind of job you want.
